The Makers Lab uses a variety of 3D printing filament with the most common being:

  • PLA (cheap, reliable, corn based)
  • ABS (petroleum based, can be smoothed via acetone vapor bath)
  • PET-G (petroleum based, food safe)
  • PVA (water-soluble, used commonly for support structure)
  • TPU (flexible)

View Simplified3D's Filament Properties Table for properties and characteristics for many types of 3D printing filament. Contact the Makers Lab to inquire about filament and color availability.
